Capacity building

The organising institutions collaborate to build capacity in relation to the detection and identification of genetically modified organisms, in response to requests by the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.

This conference aims to provide an opportunity for experts to learn about the recent developments in the fields of detection and identification of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and new genomic techniques, exchange information, and share experiences and best practices. The conference will thereby contribute to capacity building for experts and laboratories involved in the detection and identification of GMOs and serves as platform of networking among regions as well as at global level.

Funding is available for eligible Parties to the Cartagena Protocol, with kind support from the Government of Germany.

The respective notification by the CBD can be found here.

Nominations from Parties to the Biosafety Protocol accepted until 13 January 2023.
